Date Night

The hubs and I received a very nice gift the other day, that's right, we got time to have a date. The first date night of 2011.

So what if it was a Wednesday or the fact that the date took place at my place of work. We got to "sit on the ice" and it was awesome. Here's a sneak peak of all our fun.

Oh and if you look hard you may spot my new hair. Thoughts?

Surprise Birthday Party

A little late but to end my husbands 30th Birthday weekend, I threw him a surprise Birthday at the United Center for a Blackhawks vs Predators game. Awesome right?!?

I booked the 40 person super suite at the Madhouse (which was freakin sweet BTW) and was able to get 40 of Landon's friends and relatives to travel to Chicago to join us on the hub's very special day. At first I was surprised about how much interest there was in coming out for Landons Birthday, but let's be honest, I have a pretty great husband so I wasn't that surprised.

our view from the suite, this taken post game, check out all the banners

Minne Monday

Hey look guys, I'm ready to go to the Blackhawks game for dad's surprise 30th Birthday. Wait it's Monday at 8:45 and you haven't woken up yet. What's going on here?

Oh wait, you already went?  partied so hard and now are sleeping all day? And I wasn't invited? What happened to it being my Birthday month?

Random Blackberry Photos Take 2

A few more Randoms to clean up before the new year. (Other's found here)

My daily view on my way to work. Love Chicago!

The 1tt tree we ever had that we didn't cut down. It's also our 1st ever Griswold tree, more here.

Our new house has really bare walls. Our tree was lacking presents since Landon and I decided our house was our Christmas. Most of these presents went to cousin Buddy.

Minne running away from the cold at our old apartment. You can tell my the door that it was ghetto.

My custom jersey that you'll see featured on our Holiday card that should arrive sometime in 2011.

Minne super pissed that I brought my work home with me.

The start of putting together our basement.

REMINDER: Need to update this hallway for work.

Minne making sure Buddy isn't doing anything bad.

"Can we sleep in a few more minutes mom?"

Classic Buddy, waiting for someone to feed him.

Minne Blackhawks Monday

Happy Minne Monday. I know I am a little late on this but here's a quick pic of Minne sporting her favorite Blackhawks shirt.

If she looks a little sad it's because she just found out her favorite Blackhawks player Eager is being traded.

Day After Blackhawks Win

Driving into work this morning, I felt compelled to drive down Madison it was a Stanley Cup hot mess. Luckily for the city of Chicago, we have one of these.

I worked my way into the United Center and got to work. After cleaning up all the media monitors, the cables, and what not I was filthy and hungry.

Post lunch, there was rumor that the Stanley Cup was in the building. Crap, I look terrible but I needed the photo op. Wouldn't you? So I made my way to the room housing the cup.  As I walked in the Blackhawks staff was hoisting the Cup up in the window so the fans outside by the Jordan/Toews statue could take a peak!! Look at it shine!

I did get a photo with the cup, but I don't have an electric copy yet. So in the meantime, I thought I would sare this. In the locker room of the 2010 Stanley Cup winners. What's not to love about this place?

That's right, raise that cup!

More photos coming soon and perhaps some coverage of tomorrow's parade & festivites? See you here!

Holy Crap

Holy Crap Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup!

Listen to this classy guy talk about his friends, family, beautiful sisters. Oh and my favorite part? When they tell him to behave during the festivities and he yells "not a chance, not a chance"

Check out Kaner's full interview here:

PS I have a sour taste in my mouth about the Phillies Flyers fans booing the entire award ceremony.

Text From the Hubs

Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals is going on at my work, the United Center right now and this is the text I get from my hubs...

"Who is the team in red, they're good! Too bad they didn't play for us in Philly"

I am guessing he think's that he is hilarious

Life Change Alert

I cut my hair. I cut a lot of it. My mom walked into the hair studio to see the finished result and blinked twice, paused and said..."you cut your hair" as a half question? If you don't know me, hopefully you'll understand from my mom's reaction that I may change my hair color or the way I style it but only a few times in my entire life have I cut it all.

So here it is, here's what I did (note that I decided 13 weeks ago that instead of cutting my hair, I decided to  make it red.) So now, here I am with short red hair...not sure my exact thoughts but at least it looks good with the Blackhawks flag.

Game 3 is on right now, better get back to it. Lets go Blackhawks!

Blackhawks take Game 2

I must admit, I was thinking very selfishly when I found out the Blackhawks were going to play on Memorial Day weekend. You see, I've worked every weekend and every holiday weekend (except when I've had off for weddings or family functions)  for almost 4 years and part of the reason for me wanting to resign from good old Banana Republic was so that I could have more time for myself and with my husband to do the things we are always talking about doing but never actually doing.

This weekend I spent a lot of time at work but I can't complain since I wasn't the only one. There are many people who have lots of different roles and functions but all work together towards "One Goal" of getting to the Stanley Cup. After seeing all the hard work that goes into it from an event and tech ops side of things, I may have missed out on my holiday weekend. BUT...I got to be part of something amazing. That something amazing includes 2 games of the Stanley Cup Finals where my beloved Blackhawks took both games. Want to know what is even better? The hubs got to enjoy game 1 first hand and my dad and his bestie got to enjoy game 2, something the 2 of them have been waiting to see for years.

Neither party was disappointed. In fact, not one fan in the United Center this past weekend was disappointed (ok maybe those that were in orange). The Blackhawks only need 2 more wins to say that they are the victors of the 2010 Stanley Cup and I am grateful that I get to be part of it. So while some of you spent the weekend liek you do every year, water front with tasty beverages in hand I got to partake in something that may only happen once in my lifetime and for that, I am feeling truely blessed today. I am guessing these guys are too....

Minne Blackhawks Monday

Happy Minne Monday, life for our family has been insane. This weekend I have spent a lot of hours at the United Center prepping for Game 1 and Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals. So far the Blackhawks are up 1-0 as we enter game 2. Fingers crossed for another big win.

Meanwhile, Minne has been cheering the Blackhawks on from home since the UC has a strict “no pets” policy. She melts my heart with this little look of hers. Here she is resting her head on the hubs leg as she's watching some sports highlights.
Even though she can't be at the games, she has no problem routing on the Mighty Blackhawks. Here’s a photo taken at a parade with Minne, the hubs and the Blackhawk’s mascot Tommy the Hawk.
Fingers crossed for a big win for Game 2 tonight.

A Busy Busy Blackhawk Friday

So remember when I said I was going to be super busy? Well, here's a video snippet of what's been going on in the lives of every one at the United Center. Video courtesy of the United Center. Enjoy!

Blackhawks - One Goal

I just realized I do not have "attending a Stanley Cup Final" game on my 2010 To Do List. What is wrong with me?

Since the Finals start this weekend, bare with me if I am a little slow on postings. Between being a United Center employee and a Blackhawks fan I have some very strict priorities ahead of me.

Happy Friday!

Today is a huge day because my work, the United Center will be welcoming the Blackhawks home for game 3 of the conference finals. We're hoping for a big win today but an even bigger win on Sunday. With that said, I thought I would feature one of the songs that the hubs has been singing and blasting around the house. Lets hope we can sing this one in Chicago.

We Lost BUT

Yup, last night was our first softball game and we lost. We put up a great fight at the beginning but it went down hill from there. In my defense? Well I played one of the best games of softball in my life. I got on base twice, because well I earned it. I didn't get walked by mistake and I really hit the ball. I was pumped.

I also was forced to play in positions that I am not very comfortable at, but I didn't play too bad. In fact, with my first time at second I almost bobbled a fly ball but I didn't, I made the catch (yup I made my first out actually happen - woot woot). If I can say so myself, I actually did a pretty decent job in the outfield as well. I didn't catch any fly balls, but I did a lot better in the grounding than I have in previous years. So yes, we lost but I feel like as an individual player I am finally (after 3 years) starting to contribute to my team. Now that is a good feeling.

**ADDITIONAL COMMENTS**

I went to bed dreaming about my next up at bat and I woke up feeling great. I new today was going to be a good day. I met my mom for coffee to start off her Birthday celebrations and guess what? When I went to leave I had realized I locked my keys in the car. Ooopps. Thankfully, the hubs is amazing and he jumped in his car and headed our way to let me in.
Let's hope I don't bring my bad luck to work. We have a huge Bulls game tonight at the United Center and the Blackhawks have a huge game away. Lets Go Bulls! Lets Go Hawks.

My job rocks!

Ok so it’s no secret. I love my job. I get to work for an awesome arena that is home to the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Blackhawks. In my role I get to work closely with departments from both teams along with events/acts that come to the United Center. Cool right? Well today is extra cool. We will be welcoming back the Blackhawks after the 2 week Olympic hiatus. I think I read something on Twitter that said it best from espnzonechicago: #Blackhawks Toews, Keith & Seabrook come home w gold, Kane a silver. Most bling in a United Center locker room since Rodman was in town?

So cheers to all the Blackhawks Olympians and special cheers to Kane for being a proud American!
