5 Years Ago Today

5 Years ago today my ex-boyfriend asked me to be his girlfriend. Today, that ex-boyfriend and I have been dating for 5 years and this is the first year that I can call him my husband and me his wife.

We spent this day a year ago with friends and family prepping for our wedding. The boys went golfing during the day. They got as much golf in as they could prior to the rainy stormy weather. Apparently boys don't take Photos. The girls spent the day taking cover from the terrible weather getting manis and pedis.

Later on that evening, the rain stopped for just enough time for us to meet at our venue and complete a walk through of our ceremony. Right as we made it through the rehearsal, the rain started trickling. We got inside the tented pavilion just in time for the storms.
After we had enough of watching the chandeliers swinging in the tent, we were ready for dinner. We made our way to a little Irish Pub in my hometown for an Irish feast and some yummy cake. The rain didn’t stop anyone.

Side Note: The hubs wanted a 3D Purdue Pete Funfettie wedding cake. I may not be very traditional but there is something classic about an all white cake. Plus our cake was thrown in for free by the venue so why would we pay for an enormous train cake? And we found out that most bakeries do not do funfetti. Sad for the hubs not so much for me. The mom and sister in-law surprised the hubs by making his wish come true at the rehearsal dinner with a Purdue Train cake. Genius, right? Plus people could enjoy the bakery cake today and not get torn between wedding cake the day of the wedding.

Side Note #2: I wish we had thought to get the photogrpaher to get pics of the boys playing golf and of our rehearsal. If you have it int he budget, do it. You won't be disappointed like I am now.

Side Note #3: We had a ring bearer and a flower girl in our wedding but both of them preferred to be called "Dog Walkers" since the had the added responsibility of escorting our Minne girl down the aisle on the big day. More on that later.
